As you can see a very tight fit will be produced with very slow removal of the excess wood. A beginner at this will expect to spend 10-20 Hrs. at this and there is no margin of error once its gone you cant put it back.   If you want a 95% inlayed buttstock they are available but remember there is a lot of work to get them to the finished product.
